Joint Therapy
Joint health is paramount to every equine athlete, regardless of discipline or
intensity. Based on accurate diagnostics we can provide a wide range of joint therapies to maximise performance and manage comfort in our patients.
Therapies may range from oral supplements and intramuscular injections, to intra-articular joint injections with corticosteroids, hyaluronic acids, and regenerative therapies to provide rapid and long lasting effects.
Shockwave Therapy
Shockwave therapy is a series of ultrasonic pressure waves that direct energy to the site of injury. The focused energy increases blood supply to the targeted area, resulting in tissue regeneration and repair in tendons, ligaments, and bone. Shockwave may also be used in in areas of muscle damage or injury to provide anti-inflammatory effects and speed up recovery.
Motorised Dentistry
Routine dental care allows for identification and treatment of a variety of
conditions including but not limited to head shaking, dropping feed, weight loss, resentment to the bit and poor contact. Sedation and placement of an oral speculum (gag) allows for thorough evaluation of the entire oral cavity, and our motorised equipment greatly reduces the time required for the procedure.
Laboratory Analysis
Partnering with our local Christchurch based laboratory, we offer a full
range of diagnostic testing. Testing may include complete blood counts, biochemistry, trace mineral analysis, faecal egg counts, metabolic testing (PPID/cushings/insulin resistance), and biopsies. Many of our test results are available the same day, allowing us to accurately and efficiently provide treatment.
